Description:

Kaen or Thai Reed Organ is a typical instrument of ancient origin associated with the
northeastern part of Thailand, It has been in existence for over 2,000 years. Belonging to the woodwind family, its tone is controlled by finger movements on both sides. It is composed of different lengths of Mai-sang (a special kind of wood) that provide varied keys and sound combination.
Kaen comes in more than 10 different kinds. Aside from being played for entertainment, it is also used in times of offering to the gods.
