Hi, I purchased this image banner rotator and I like it very much. I have a use for it that requires for me to call for the XML file from an external source. I was wondering if you could help me to understand how I might do that?

I have the banner rotator on my site with the desired images and it works fine when viewing directly from my web site. What I want is to use the swf file on a third party site. I'm using it to display a list of screenshots of my software. The fla and swf file work perfectly from my site but because I cannot load the data.xml to the third part site the swf file doesn't work at all on the third party site. I am using Macromedia Flash 8 and I also have a couple of other Flash programs including Sothink's stuff. I have searched the web extensively looking for something to explain how to import the data.xml file into the swf file but nothing I've tried seems to work. I figure since XML is such a great way to build editable configuration files and databases for the web there must be some way to load an external XML file - even for swf files. I'd prefer to keep the separate XML so I can edit it without having to edit the flash file. (Much easier as I'm sure you are aware.) So in summary - is there a quick/simple way to call for and load the data.xml file as an external file for your banner rotator. It being a banner rotator it would not be of much use unless it could be used on third party web sites unless one could load the xml file externally. Thanks for responding so quickly... Maybe you know of a site where I can attain the information I need. My searches have proved futile.

Duh, never mind, I figured it out on my own... For anyone else having this issue just edit the "vars" in the Macromedia Flash IDE to reflect the off-site URL to the XML file...

Great flash Banner rotator - View it real time in action--
