Description:

Since the old days, Bangkokâ€™s waterways have played a vital role incommunication that the city was once called the â€œVenice of the Eastâ€. The Chao Phraya River is considered the main artery of the kingdom since most communication, transport, social and business activities depend on it.

The sound of river express boats approaching the pier, whistle signalling the boat captain, toll collectors and stationmasters are all familiar to those who live nearby. All these were recorded from Tha Phra Athit, which is one of the principal piers in Bangkok.
