ABOUT THE PREVIEW

The above preview features the thumbs scroller widget as it appears in both horizontal and vertical orientations. The horizontal scroller has elastic easing applied whereas the vertical scroller employs standard easing. Roll over the scrollers to see them in action.

FEATURES AT A GLANCE
Available in Flash8/AS2 and Flash 9/AS3
The component comes packaged in both AS3 and AS2 versions. The FLAs and their respective sources reside in separate folders in the purchased zip file.

Drag, Drop, Resize and Scroll
By default the component automatically determines scroll direction based on the dimensions you set via IDE (for instances dragged and sized on stage) or by the "maskWidth" and "maskHeight" properties set via XML. If you size the component so that its width is greater than its height, it scrolls horizontally. If its height is greater it scrolls vertically. You also have the option to force scrolling in a specific direction overriding the default behavior. In addition, thumbs are scaled proportionally regardless of dimension to fit either the width or height of the component depending on scroll direction.

Progressive Motion Blur
You have the option to enable motion blur on the thumbs as they scroll. The faster the thumbs scroll the more they blur. Blur direction is automatically inferred from scroll direction.

Thumb Border and Colorize Roll-Over Effects
You can enable a border to frame the thumb with the option to set its color, thickness and whether or not to animate it. Enable grayscale-to-color tween effect on thumb roll over.

Thumb Click Actions
You can configure the tool to perform one of four actions whenever a thumb is clicked. Below is a brief description of each, see XMLs accompanying the examples for further details:
Goto Frame:
By setting the appropriate parameters in the XML clicking a thumb will cause the component to navigate to a specified frame on its parent timeline.

Goto URL:
Thumb clicks navigate to a URL defined in the XML file.

Call External Method:
Click events can trigger external methods defined in the SWF's HTML container. These are usually javascript methods. In addition arguments can be passed to these functions if desired.

Re-dispatch and handle "thumbClick" events:
You can also opt to handle the thumbclick event yourself. The component takes a click event and redistpaches it as a (custom) thumbClick event, furnishing the thumbclick event object with various properties pertinent to the selected thumb.

Configurable via:
- XML
- FlashVars
- Component Inspector
- Parameters Dialog
Using XML or FlashVars you can configure the tool without touching the FLA. Quickly change settings via the parameters dialog when editing the FLA in the Flash IDE without touching any actionscript. Modify over 30+ properties that control layout, usability and other settings for the different sub-components that make up the tool.
